Movie ' Hamlet' : Post-Viewing Task

  Post-Viewing Tasks :

  • ·         How faithful is the movie to the original play?
  • ·         After watching the movie, has your perception about play, characters or situations changed?
  • ·         Do you feel ‘aesthetic delight’ while watching the movie? If yes, exactly when did it happen? If no, can you explain with reasons?
  • ·         Do you feel ‘catharsis’ while or after watching movie? If yes, exactly when did it happen? If no, can you explain with reasons?
  • ·         Does screening of movie help you in better understanding of the play?
  • ·         Was there any particular scene or moment in the movie that you will cherish lifetime?
  • ·         If you are director, what changes would you like to make in the remaking of movie on Shakespeare’s ‘Hamlet’?
First i would like to share something about "Hamlet" play by William Shakespeare and as a movie by Dir. Kenneth Branagh. Both are performed very well to describe whole part of Hamlet as a movie and play. Here first i would like to discuss something about one question that IS HAMLET ARTISTIC FAILURE? My Answer is that may be but not sure.. because from the all situation Hamlet faces in his mental disturbance, and i dont remember but one scene the shadow of doubt and many other scene.. if we research all thing than we know that "Hamlet" is an artistic failure has no validity sometime its performed just like as a object.. Inshort it is truely mysterious and tragic play.

Now Here I am try to giving proper answers of post-viewing task.

(1) Movie is totally faithful to the original play. If we compare movie and novel than honestly saying that Kenneth Branagh describe most of all thing much same and very well direct by him. Branagh also added his own idea, thought and his creativity like mirror scene and Ophelia with a key-  this scene is very short but very meaning full. so all those scenes are Branagh's wonderful addition. Watching movie screening its really help us to understand original novel and this things describe that the movie is fully faithful to the original play.

(2) After watching the movie my views totally changed because in some cases i thought that Hamlet is not too good person but after watching i felt that Hamlet also suffer alot from some situation and its tragic turn that At starting Hamlet lives in illusion that his father is lives in somewhere. Hamlet is in dark and that time we see the USE OF METAPHORICAL IMAGE IN LANGUAGE when Hamlet says that " I AM IN SUN.. " Hamlet's struggle most of his own self. I like one thing that at the starting of movie Branagh introduce minor character just like as POLITICAL PLOT.

(3) Next about Aesthetic delight- Yes while watching movie i feel aesthetic delight when Claudius murdered by Hamlet that time i feel really happy. Sometime Hamlet's madness and his expression gives delight.

(4) About Catharsis- Catharsis like PITY AND FEAR.. Yes, i felt catharsis while watching movie.. I like to discuss one scene its fully tragic scene when Hamlet follow the ghost of his father and than start conversation between Hamlet and Ghost of his father. Father says that " THUS WAS I SLEEPING BY MY BROTHER.. BLOSSOMED OF MY SIN..! " and than suddenly Hamlet starts crying and says that " IT IS ADEA, ADEA REMEMBER ME..!.. and when ophelia's father death she feels very alone. Her situation cannot be able to describe in words. Than Ophelia, Hamlet and death of other charcter's. While and after watching movie all those things gives Catharsis.

(5)Yes totally.. screening of movie truly help me to understand original play. Honestly saying that before watching movie i dnt know much more about original play bt after study of play and movie screening help me alot to understand the play.

(6) Relation between daughter and father ( between Ophelia and her father )i will cherish it life time. Friendship between Horatio and Hamlet. and yes Ophelia's endless love and trust for Hamlet.. All moments are really beautiful.

(7)If i am director first i would like to change in the end of the scene of movie its very tragic because all characters died. Its also a revenge play and Hamlet wants to take revenge so the death of Claudius its ok. and In my movie Ophelia and Hamlet never dies and i try to put something different.
Thus
I would like to say that "Hamlet"- As a play it's very well written by William Shakespear and As a Movie " Hamlet " also best direct by Kenneth Branagh..

Thank you..

Education system is still primitive: Sam Pitroda

My Views on this Article..

This article truly appreciable and i am agree with the view of Sam Pitroda. Yes its right if we try to look into past we can feel superiority to past centuries and generations. And also they were not as advanced in technology they had much more struggle with everyday life as we do today.
"Can't say that only politicians are corrupt. We are also corrupt. We must change ourselves before changing others." - Its truly said. In many cases people are saying that its just because of politicians and etc etc.. but fact is that YES, SOMETIMES WE ARE CORRUPT!! we are religious but also corrupt in some way of thinking. People just try to change. In such circumstances, people will keep continue on their path of corruption.
As always says that Nothing Is Impossible.. May be if every child getting best and right education than country will automatically called corruption free..!
Thank you..!

What Young India is Reading and Why?

My Views..

What's young India reading, and why? - First i would like to tell that A single title of this article its really intresting it tell many thing just with one questionmark. This article is really appreciable.

" Dont have time to reading !! .."

It's just one type of excuse.. People have lots of time to reading but in 21st century these days of mechanical existence when people have no time for  reading because if they are free than they passed them time in chatting.. internet etc.. People have time to surfing on internet but no time for reading even online reading books, Literature and all. It doesn't matter because its depend on our individual thinking, liking..
For My Point of view..,
For me the Importance of Reading is difficult to express in wordsbt i'll try..I am Die-hard fan of reading books like Tragedy, Novel, Drama, all type of moral reading..The habit of reading is the best pastime for us. Everyday i spend some hour specially for reading. It can keep me busy when i have nothing else to do and remove my loneliness. whenever i am reading i truly feel that i am wondering in a new world. For me.. A good book for a reader is better than visiting the best of gardens and scenic places. yes Reading - its introduce our nature our personality. Its depends what u read.
I read many books. Like SHAKESPEAREAN Tragedies ( HAMLET, OTHELLO, KING LEAR, ROMEO AND JULIET), CHETAN BHAGAT'S ALL NOVEL.. PAULO COELHO'S ( THE ALCHEMIST ), SIDNEY SHELDON'S ( ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK? , IF TOMORROW COMES ) SPENCER JOHNSON'S ( WHO MOVED MY CHEESE its one of my favourite book ) JAY CLARK'S ( THE ULTIMATE LOVE STORY ) ARTHUR MILLER'S ( ALL MY SONS) HUGH PRATHER ( NOTES TO MYSELF) I also read RAMAYANA AND MAHABHARATA and i like to reas SWAMIVIVEKANAND'S biography, SHAHBUDDIN RATHOD'S ( LAKH RUPIYANI VAT  its really intresting ) and yes esspecially i really like to read T.S.ELIOT'S ESSAY ( TRADITION AND INDIVIDUAL TALENT ) and MATTHEW ARNOLD'S ESSAY ( FUNCTION OF CRITICISM AT THE PRESENT TIME )..

As arts faculty students or even science faculty students studying literature. Yes importance of literature cannot be easily clearify we all knows. But as a student of Literature I observed one thing that Literature isn't a value for everyone but it can be an amazing window into other worlds and also it inspire everyone. In short i just love to read whenever i am reading it gives me such a wonderful pleasure.

Robinson Crusoe from the perspective of Friday..

" Robinson Crusoe " - As Perspective of Friday

Here The novel " Robinson Crusoe " is written by Deniel Defoe.. Truly this novel is too long and its devided into three major movements.. In this novel at the first chapter we find that Crusoe is the youngest of three brothers so Crusoe is expected to inherit little and as a result his father encourages him to take up the law but crusoe wants to go sea and he just want nothing more than travell around the ship. here it shows that his family is totally opposes this idea.
Theory of Subaltern is truly like postcolonialism because in this novel we can see the MASTER and SLAVE system. In first part BEFORE THE ISLAND Crusoe sailing around for a while and he makes a bit of money in trade but for some reason he captured coast of Africa it is to purchase slaves and Crusoe himself becomes a " slave " and here his befriends a young man named Xury, with whom he escapes from captivity. and Friday ( real name xury ) was saved by Crusoe. so friday always describe Crusoe as a master. This idea of ownership and superiority impacts his relations with such people as Xury and Friday.
In the Island Crusoe feel loneliness and he thinks that he is the King of the Island. but when Crusoe sees a footprint on the shore one day and learns that he's actually not alone on the island. so in this scene we think about Crusoe perspective of Friday that on island Friday is a King of islandand Crusoe comes to need as a helper. It shows Power of Friday.

Thus, at the end Crusoe returns to Europe with Friday. Inshort in this novel Defoe include lots of major themes like Postcolonialism, and theme of subeltern comes from the character Friday and Crusoe, Religion, about Society and class system, about differnces between man and the natural world etc..
Thank you..
